Competition Category Descriptions, Packaging Requirements, and Scoring

Flower: Flower entries will be broken down into 6 categories based on terpene-dominant profiles, as provided by the lab results. The categories will be as follows: Limonene, Humulene, Pinene, Linalool, Caryophyllene, and Myrcene. You will be notified which category your flower was entered into before the event happens/winners are announced.

*Flower entries can be packaged in glass jars or plastic bottles. Submissions should contain a total of five 3-gram packages and six 1-gram packages (for a total of 21 grams) and container must be labeled/marked appropriately with weight only. No other markings should be on the containers.

Flower entries will be judged on the following items on a scale of 1-10 (with half points) for a total possible score of 50 points: visual, aroma, taste, cure/flush, and effect.

Concentrates: Hydrocarbon solvent or non-solvent including but not limited to rosin, wax, bubble hash, ice hash, water hash, etc.

*Concentrates can be packaged in 4” x 4” parchment or PTFE squares inside a blank coin envelope, in silicone containers or in small unmarked glass jars. Submissions should contain twelve (12) ½ gram packages.

Concentrates entries will be judged on the following items on a scale of 1-10 (with half points) for a total possible score of 50 points: visual, aroma, taste, purge/cure, and effect.

Sweet Edibles: Any SWEET (dominant flavor profile is what is considered for the category) THC-infused food product including but not limited to cakes, cookies, confections, hard candy, gummy bears, sweet snack mixes, chocolates, granola bars, popsicles, etc. (Please note: Any items that require refrigeration/freezing are to be entered at your own risk as we cannot guarantee the stability of the product during transition periods. We cannot stress enough that we do not recommend these types of products and we have had many judges complain about the integrity of such products as they are often not able to consume them for at least a week. Furthermore, if you do decide to enter such a product, it will be your responsibility to get a fresh sample to us for the display case at the actual event.)

Savory Edibles: Any SALTY OR SPICY (dominant flavor profile is what is considered for the category) THC-infused food product including but not limited to pickles, soups, baked beans, popcorn, beef jerky, spicy/salty snack mixes, crackers, etc. Please keep in mind for this category that if it needs something else to eat it with, it goes in the Syrups/Sauces/Condiments category (for example, salsas or savory dips).

Beverages: Any THC-infused beverage including but not limited to lemonade, iced tea, soda, brewed beverages, hot cocoa packets, etc. (CBD Beverages will be entered into the CBD Edibles category).

Syrups, Sauces, Condiments: Any THC-infused non-beverage liquid including but not limited to maple syrup, peanut butter, BBQ sauce, honey mustard sauce, honey, salsas, savory dips, etc. (CBD Syrups/Sauces/Condiments will be entered into the CBD Edibles category).

CBD Edibles: Any CBD-infused food product including but not limited to both sweet and savory categories; any CBD-infused beverages; any CBD-infused syrups/sauces/condiments including but not limited to maple syrup, BBQ sauce, honey mustard sauce, honey, etc.

*Edible, Beverages, and Syrups/Sauces/Condiments entries can be packaged in a variety of ways. Each sample MUST include mg per item, ingredients, dosing instructions, allergen information, and any handling instructions (i.e. Item must be refrigerated or heated, served over ice, etc.). NO LOGOS OR BRANDING! All Edible category submissions should contain a total of sixteen (16) samples.

All Edible entries (including Sweet, Savory, CBD, Beverages, and Syrups/Sauces/Condiments) will be judged on the following items on a scale of 1-10 (with half points) for a total possible score of 50 points: visual, taste, directions/instructions, consistency/texture, and effect.

**Please note – we encourage Edible-makers to submit products with a minimum of 50mg or higher per sample per Judge, as our Judges tend to have a high tolerance**

CBD Flower/Extract: Flower: Any CBD dominant genetics (grown in any medium, by any process); (Extract) any Hydrocarbon solvent or non-solvent including but not limited to rosin, bubble hash, ice hash, water hash.

*Flower entries can be packaged in glass jars or plastic bottles. Submissions should contain a total of five 3-gram packages and six 1-gram packages (for a total of 21 grams) and container must be labeled/marked appropriately with weight only. No other markings should be on the containers.

Topicals & Transdermals – Therapeutic: Any CBD- OR THC-infused salve, ointment, transdermal, cream, balm, lotion, deodorant, bath bomb, soap, chapstick, pain stick, etc. that has a focus on pain or other therapeutic qualities.

Topicals & Transdermals – Cosmetic: Any CBD- OR THC-infused salve, ointment, transdermal, cream, balm, lotion, serum, skin care product, soap, lipstick, etc. that has a focus on cosmetic qualities.

*Topicals & Transdermals can be packaged in either glass, metal, aluminum, or plastic containers/bottles/applicators. Each sample MUST include ingredients, dosing instructions, and any allergen information. Submissions should contain a total of sixteen (16) pieces.

Topicals & transdermals will be judged on the following items on a scale of 1-10 (with half points) for a total possible score of 50 points: visual, aroma, directions/instructions, texture/ease of application, and effect.

Tinctures & Capsules: Any alcohol-based, vegetable glycerin-based, MCT or any other oil-based tincture; any capsule, etc. (Includes both THC and CBD).

*Tinctures should be packaged in either glass or ceramic containers (NO METAL OR PLASTIC). Capsules can be packaged using any food-grade capsule – capsules can then be packaged into any plastic or glass container. Each sample MUST include dosing instructions and any allergen information (ingredients if applicable). Submissions should contain a total of sixteen (16) pieces.

Tinctures & capsules will be judged on the following items on a scale of 1-10 (with half points) for a total possible score of 50 points: visual, taste OR ease of ingestion, directions/instructions, consistency/texture, and effect.

**We reserve the right to move your entry to the appropriate category if deemed necessary to do so.**

***Failure to comply with any rules will result in a 5-point deduction from your total score.***
